Most manufacturing facilities have a risk management program designed to reduce accidents, injuries and illnesses.

A general incident rate calculates the number of recordable incidents per hour worked.

The DART rate (Days Away, Restricted or Transferred), however, gives more detail than a general incidence rate by focusing only on severe injuries and illnesses.
