Video: How to Select the Correct Abrasive to Blend a Weld

Hi, my name is John Gregoire. I'm a technical trainer for Norton and today we're going to cover how to choose the correct product for blending a weld. While using a right angle grinder, you basically have three options: one is the depressed center wheel; then you have a flap disc and a fiber disc, so which product would work better for you it really depends on your project requirements. If you're looking for longer life and more aggressive grinding, you're going to choose a depressed center wheel, but it's going to give you a much rougher finish. The flap disc is going to give you less life than the depressed center wheel. It's going to give you a much better finish. It's going to give you a blend of stock removal and surface finish. The fiber disc is going to give you the fastest stock removal. If your concern is productivity and you want to remove material as fast as possible, a fiber disc would be a product.
