VIDEO: How to Get a Mirror Finish with Norton Rapid Prep Polish Discs

Hi, I'm Greg here at beautiful Worcester Tech. Today I'm going to show you how to get a mirror finish with our Norton Rapid Polish wheel. Today we used the Norton four-step process to get a single-digit RA finish on this work piece, in other words a very fine finish.

Now we're going to take it one step further and get a mirror finish. So to get that mirror finish, we're going to use a Norton Rapid Polish wheel. Let me show you how it works. So the first step is attaching a Norton Rapid Polish wheel to the grinder. I attach the no hub wheel to this particular grinder but it also comes in hubbed. We have a magnetic stand right here. I'm going to take the grinder, slide it right on there and it's pretty secure, the magnet's not going anywhere, pretty secure.

Now I'm gonna apply this paste and this stick’s flat but you're gonna put it on a little bit of an angle just so you can get it in there pretty good. And you can actually hold it better that way it feels a little safer and speaking of safer, this thing spins clockwise right at 12,000 rpms, so if I hold it here it's pretty good I got a good grip but if I hold it here it's going to want to pull me into it so it's probably not a good place to hold it. And I can hold it here and it might work, but then if I have any jewelry, my Rolex or anything might come off and get in there so I don't want to get pulled into it so I'm going to hold it right here and I'm just going to hold it kind of softly but give it a little bit of pressure and I'm going to spin this for about 5 to 10 seconds just to apply this grease and I hope the wheel turns pink.

Now that we have the compound on the wheel, we're ready to start polishing. So now that we're done polishing, we achieved that mirror finish. I can see myself in this thing, I could shave, I can see a few new wrinkles, some gray hairs. We'll put the part numbers in the description below. Don't forget to subscribe. See you next time.
