DIAMOND TIPPED TURNING INSERTS FOR COMPOSITES

When turning a composite material a diamond tipped insert will out perform a coated carbide insert of a similar style. Most composites are highly abrasive and prematurely wear out carbide inserts. Diamond tipped inserts are more expensive than carbide inserts. But the productivity increase will pay for itself in a very short period of time. You can run at elevated speed and feed and have less tool changes with diamond tipped inserts. Remember cycle time is everything in CNC machining a few second saved on each multiplied by your burden rate multiplied by the number of pieces produced annually can be a lot of money in YOUR POCKET.
