Band saw blade break-in procedure.

To properly "break-in" a new band saw blade, follow these simple steps after installing the new blade on your saw:
1) Reduce the feed rate / feed force to 20%-50% of normal cutting rates.
2) Start cutting at this reduced rate, making sure a chip is actually being formed. Adjust feed / force as necessary.
3) Once the saw blade is fully engaged with the workpiece, gradually increase the feed force.
4) Continue increasing the force gradually over each successive cut.
This entire process should take from 5-15 minutes total.

The break-in process 'hones' the razor-sharp, factory ground cutting tooth edges, giving them very small radii, resulting in overall increased blade life. Use coolant as usual during this process.
