As with most things economic, there are benefits and drawbacks to moves governments make with and against each other. For the current tariff situation, there are some cases that have been positive for manufacturers.
Take LeanWerks: They are a precision job shop who gained new business when a Canadian oil and gas company looked for a U.S. parts maker to handle some its U.S. parts business and avoid customs charges.
Because of tariffs, LeanWerks moved to a Pennsylvania-based supplier of tungsten carbide parts which was initially more costly with the first round of tariffs but then became more affordable after the second round.
