Hydraulic or Pneumatic Workholding in 5-Axis CNC? Which Do You Use?

Have you ditched your vise handle on your 5-axis machine? Experts find that pneumatic clamping has grown in popularity and capabilities over recent years because it’s simple to install and maintain.

One advantage over hydraulic clamping: If there’s a leak, pneumatic clamping vents to the atmosphere. For auto clamp/unclamp, you can plumb a VERO-S quick-change chuck or pyramid fixture for compressed air and tie it into a PLC inside the machine’s electrical cabinet.

How automated is your workholding today? Are you seeing the benefits of it?
