Where Do Spills Occur?

  1. Exterior Bulk Storage – Oil only products are ideal for outdoor leaks and spills absorbing oil and repelling water.
  2. Interior Fluid Storage – Consider specialty items like drum top covers and spill pallets to manage all types of leaks.
  3. Machinery & Equipment – SOCs surround machinery to prevent leaks while pillows are placed underneath.
  4. Shipping & Receiving – Keep spill kits near any entrances to prevent spills from reaching the environment. Industrial rugs are durable enough for fork lift traffic.
  5. Production, Assembly & Maintenance – Make sure to have plenty of pads and rolls on hand. These general purpose items come in a variety of sizes to support your facility needs.

What is a SPCC Plan & Do I Need One?

A Spill Prevention Control & Countermeasure (SPCC) plan is a facility-specific, comprehensive plan outlining both the containment and countermeasures implemented to prevent a spill from occurring and a series of response procedures in the event that one does. The SPCC plan addresses the following three areas:

• Operating procedures that prevent spills
• Control measures installed to prevent a spill from reaching the environment
• Countermeasures to contain, clean-up and mitigate the effects of an oil spill that reaches the environment

Need To Know Regulations

The following OSHA and EPA regulations protect your employees and the environment:

• 29 CFR 1910.22(a)(2) – Walking-Working Surfaces
• 40 CFR 112.7(c)(1)(viii) – General requirements for Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure Plans
• 29 CFR 1910.120(j)(1)(vii)
