Ansell helped one of the largest oil drilling companies in the world realize significant cost savings and enhanced worker protection.
BACKGROUND
Located in Saudi Arabia, this company is one of the largest oil drilling companies in the world. They were using a wide variety of different impact gloves and were having to replace them at an alarmingly high rate.
OBJECTIVES
- Enhance quality of gloves
- Standardize safety gloves for each application
- Reduce glove SKUs and costs
AnsellGUARDIAN® SOLUTIONS
Ansell was invited to conduct an AnsellGUARDIAN® assessment on four different onshore rigs as a key tool to assist in the overall safety improvement program. Following the success of the first assessment, Ansell was requested to conduct more on both oil-based mud and water-based mud rigs. After product trials, Ansell products, including HyFlex® 11-840, ActivArmr® 97-120 and AlphaTec® 58-535B, were approved by the crews on the rigs and then by the company’s HSE management.
RESULTS
The trial products offered enhanced protection and improved the safety standards while reducing SKUs by 5,270 compared to the previous year. These products allowed for $115,000 in cost savings and simplified the process by reducing the number of vendors by five.
