5 Most Common Metalworking Injuries

Did you know there are 4.5 million reported injuries a year in the metal manufacturing industry, just in the US? Here is a view into the Top 5 areas:

  1. Metal Material Handling Injuries – Your hands are exposed to hazards when loading, moving or working with metals and large sheets of metals at times too
  2. Cuts and Abrasions – Another area where your hands are subjected to infections if you’re not wearing gloves which prevent sharp metal materials from puncturing your skin.
  3. Eye Injuries – When metal fragments go flying, if you’re not wearing protective glasses or goggles, you’re putting yourself at risk
  4. Repetitive Strain Injuries – We’re talking about carpal tunnel, tendinitis and even rotator cuff syndrome. All of these are examples of injuries caused by repetitive lifting, force, vibrations etc.
  5. Burns – Metal gets hot quickly, it’s highly conductive which causes the all too common burns.

Are you surprised by what is on this list? Have something else to add?
