Question:
“I have an M84 x 2.0 bolt and I want to know the distance from the thread crest to the thread root.”

Answer
The difference between the MAD and the MID is equivalent to the thread pitch for metric threads. Therefore, subtract 2.0 from 84 and the MID is 82. Thus, the distance from the root to the crest is 1.0.
