This approach will have advantages that benefit automotive and aerospace parts makers in particular. Often, an inspection using a coordinate measuring machine may be more than is needed.

Right now, 3D Systems can produce offline inspections using scanning and automation. Ultimately, the goal is to achieve digital inline inspections where such use is appropriate.
